Epicentr Agro has suspended the implementation of its livestock projects, including the construction of a new commercial dairy complex in the Khmelnytskyi region and the modernization of existing farms. This was stated by Svitlana Nikitiuk, Head of the agricultural division at Epicentr, in an interview with LIGA.net, as reported by ProAgro Group.
According to her, the livestock segment had been developed gradually as the company expanded its land bank through the acquisition of corporate rights. At the initial stage, livestock enterprises were economically inefficient, but by 2021 the business reached profitability.
Currently, the company’s cattle herd numbers about 10,000 head, half of which are dairy cows. Over recent years, Epicentr Agro has significantly increased productivity: average milk yield has grown from no more than 15 liters per cow at the early stage to around 30 liters today and continues to rise.
Active expansion of livestock operations was planned to begin in 2026. The company had been preparing to launch a large-scale investment project involving the construction of a modern commercial dairy complex in the Khmelnytskyi region and the upgrade of existing farms.
“However, the decline in milk prices below production costs has forced us to take a short pause. Unfortunately, some milk processors have significantly reduced milk intake,” Nikitiuk said.
Previously, it was reported that despite high average corn yields at Epicentr Agro last year, the financial outcome was restrained. The main factor was elevated grain moisture, which substantially increased post-harvest processing costs.
