Despite high average corn yields in the Northern Cluster of Epicentr Agro, the overall financial effect remained restrained. The main factor was elevated grain moisture, which significantly increased post-harvest processing costs, especially amid general pressure from energy expenses, reports ProAgro Group.
According to Dmytro Franchuk, Head of the Cluster’s Agronomic Service, who spoke to The Ukrainian Farmer, a substantial share of potential profit was directed toward grain conditioning and logistics.
At the same time, the company is fully equipped with its own facilities for high-quality corn post-harvest processing. Several modern grain elevators operate in the Northern Cluster, along with additional grain reception facilities, fully covering drying needs.
“During corn harvesting, production processes ran continuously thanks to stable electricity supply, without emergency outages. This allowed timely and efficient drying and conditioning of the grain,” noted Dmytro Franchuk.
Earlier, we reported that at the peak of the corn harvest in the Sumy region, long queues formed at local elevators due to very high grain moisture levels exceeding 35%.
