As of March 31, 2026, the spring sowing campaign is ongoing in Ukraine, with farmers in 20 regions already planting spring crops, ProAgro Group reports.
According to the Ministry of Economy, all categories of farms have sown a total of 461.4 thousand hectares, which is 8% of the projected area for grain and legume crops. In particular, 52.6 thousand hectares of spring wheat, 245.8 thousand hectares of spring barley, 109.5 thousand hectares of peas, and 49.2 thousand hectares of oats have been sown.
The largest areas of grain and legume crops have so far been sown in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
By pace of fieldwork:
- Odesa region – 86.4 thousand hectares (wheat – 5.6 thousand ha, barley – 21.2 thousand ha, peas – 56.5 thousand ha, oats – 0.7 thousand ha);
- Mykolaiv region – 58 thousand hectares (barley – 31 thousand ha, peas – 26.5 thousand ha);
- Ternopil region – 79.7 thousand hectares (wheat – 13.3 thousand ha, barley – 58.2 thousand ha, peas – 3.6 thousand ha, oats – 4.6 thousand ha).
Some regions have already begun sowing other crops. In particular, farmers in the Dnipropetrovsk region have started sowing millet, covering 0.25 thousand hectares.
At the same time, the sowing of industrial crops is also starting. In particular, in the Volyn, Lviv, Rivne, and Ternopil regions, sugar beet sowing has begun – 12.8 thousand hectares have already been planted.
In addition, farmers in the Rivne region have started sowing sunflower (1.2 thousand hectares), while in the Lviv region soybean sowing has begun (0.05 thousand hectares).
As reported, as of March 24, 2026, the first 180 thousand hectares had been sown with spring crops in Ukraine.
