PAEK Group has launched preparations for growing ultra-early cabbage at Agrovyrobnytstvo LLC, one of the company’s agricultural enterprises, ProAgro Group reports.
According to the company, cabbage seeds were sown into trays on January 14, and the first seedlings emerged as early as the fifth day.
“Despite power supply disruptions, the use of alternative energy sources allows us to consistently maintain the optimal temperature of 20°C, which is essential for high-quality seedling development. Step by step, we are laying the foundation for the future harvest and continue working toward results even under challenging conditions,” PAEK said in a statement.
The company is using the Lucima F1 ultra-early cabbage hybrid, which matures 45–50 days after transplanting. The hybrid is well suited for the fresh market thanks to its rapid growth, dense deep-green heads weighing 0.8–1.5 kg, and high marketability.
PAEK plans to begin harvesting at the end of April – early May. In 2026, the company has allocated 50 hectares for ultra-early cabbage production.
As reported earlier, many Ukrainian farms expanded white cabbage acreage last year; however, unfavorable weather conditions rendered part of the crop unsuitable for long-term storage.
