On February 1, 2026, Ukraine officially завершила the 2025 sugar production season. As a result of the campaign, 26 sugar plants that are members of the Ukrtsukor association produced 1.64 million tons of sugar. Including one additional plant that is not part of the association, total sugar production in the country reached 1.72 million tons, reports ProAgro Group.
According to the association, despite a significant reduction in sugar beet acreage by 50 thousand hectares (–23% year on year), the decline in sugar production was relatively minor — only 4%, or 80 thousand tons.
This result was achieved primarily due to a record-high sugar beet yield, which reached 58.0 tons per hectare in the 2025 season, as well as improved technological quality of raw materials. Average beet sugar content increased to 17.6%, and together with operational improvements at sugar plants, this offset the impact of reduced planted areas.
“All these factors effectively neutralized the effect of acreage reduction. This year, the industry’s average sugar recovery rate amounted to 15.17%, which is almost 1 percentage point higher than in 2024,” said Yana Kavushevska, Chair of Ukrtsukor.
The structure of sugar production leaders in the 2025 season remained unchanged. The largest market shares were retained by:
Radehiv Sugar – 32%;
Astarta – 21%;
Ukrprominvest-Agro – 15%;
Teofipol Sugar Plant – 6%;
ASPIC Group – 5%.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has distributed the EU sugar export quota for 2026 among Ukrainian producers.
