Ukraine Reduces Raspberry Exports in 2025 Due to Lower Harvest

Raspberries remain Ukraine’s main export-oriented berry crop and largely determine trends across the entire berry sector. In 2025, production volumes declined, directly affecting export flows and sales structure, ProAgro Group reports.

According to a report by the Berry Growers of Ukraine, in previous years fresh raspberries were mainly exported for further processing abroad. However, in 2025, due to the smaller harvest, domestic processing capacity was sufficient to absorb available volumes, leaving no surplus for export.

“The frozen raspberry segment, which is the core of Ukraine’s berry exports, shows a significant lag behind last year’s results. Between July and September 2025, only 17.2 thousand tonnes were exported, which is 30% less than in the same period of 2024. If current trends persist, total exports through May 2026 are also expected to remain lower,” analysts forecast.

Demand structure is expected to remain relatively stable, with Poland (45%) and Germany (18%) remaining the key destinations.

“Poland has traditionally been Ukraine’s main trading partner in the raspberry segment, and 2025 once again confirmed this trend. Despite an overall decline in exports to most countries, shipments to Poland not only held up but even increased, reaching the record levels seen in 2022,” experts noted.

They explained that the main reason behind this growth lies in lower quality requirements compared to other European markets. Part of the raspberry harvest that suffered from frosts and failed to meet Western European standards was still accepted by the Polish market, allowing Ukrainian producers to sell berries unsuitable for other export destinations.

“Ukraine has virtually no direct competition in the Polish frozen raspberry market. At the same time, contrary to the claims of some Polish farmers, Ukrainian berries do not displace local production. They mainly cover supply shortages during peak processing periods, while a significant share of raspberries imported from Ukraine is later re-exported to other EU countries,” analysts concluded.

As reported earlier, processed products accounted for more than 50% of Ukraine’s total fruit and berry exports in 2025.
